(ThySistas.com) We discuss the latest fashion trends, celebrity gossip, food, family, and whatever else. However, women rarely get together and discuss the importance of their body. There is absolutely nothing wrong with indulging in a conversation about the importance of our body and parts. It isn’t like you’ll be talking personally about what you’re going through, more so, the what to do and what not to do. For example, PH is important. Yes, these discussions are needed. Not every lady knows about balancing PH or the importance of it.

PH refers to how acidic or alkanoic something maybe. It is believed that a PH lower than a 7 on a scale is acidic and anything higher than a 7 is alkaline. However, as a woman we need both, we need balance. Acid and alkaline are both needed. A PH of about 3.8 to 4.5 is considered a healthy vagina. A woman needs just a little acid to allow the good bacteria to flourish in the vagina. It is very challenging for bad bacteria to survive in acid.

Knowing what to eat, drink, what to do and what not to do is also important when discussing PH. Foods and fruits that is said to be acidic are; corn oil, sweeteners, certain syrups, salt, mayonnaise, soy sauce, vinegar, coffee, lemon juice, limes, blue plums, grapes, pomegranates, grapefruit, blueberries, and etc. For the PH to properly balance, you must have a slight bit of acid in your system to rid out bad bacteria. There are also many foods and fruits that are considered alkaline based and non acidic that includes; sauerkraut, cabbage, beets, corn, mushrooms, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, kale, cauliflower, green beans, lettuce, and the lists goes on and on.

The vagina cleans itself, this is why after your cycle is done you do not see any blood anymore without having to do a thing to your vagina. Douching the vagina is believed to be a bad practice of caring for your vagina. Having a balanced PH can help avoid infections or diseases. and that is simply put an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina. There are many ways to keep the PH balanced these include but are not limited to; practicing safe sex, see a gynecologist routinely, treat any infections as they arise and do let the infections go without being treated, as this can cause more problems in the vagina.

These are the types of conversations we need to have with young ladies often. Knowing helpful things about our vagina can prevent a lot of long term health issues. It is ok for young ladies to have conversations about balancing PH. There are somethings that can be learned outside the home that can benefit these ladies. For instance, what if a mother is used to using a douche and does not know that potential harm it can cause to her body, if her daughter learns this from school, a relative, or friend, that is in fact a benefit to her life that she can share with her mother.

The body PH balance is very important.
