(ThySistas.comIt is well known that exercise is an essential part of a healthy and fulfilling life. But how do you exercise, if you aren’t too keen on working out at the gym? Well, there are plenty of varied and exciting activities that you can do to get fit and healthy and enjoy yourself at the same time. Check out our guide below.

Roller Blading

The real trick to finding a form of exercise that you will stick with is to pick something that is fun. In fact, you want the activity to be so fun, that you forget that it is exercise at all. That is why rollerblading is a fabulous pick.

Roller skating is a good aerobic workout. You have to propel yourself forward and keep your balance which helps you to strengthen your core muscles. If you remember back to when you were a kid, you’ll realize it is really fun too. There is nothing quite like the feeling of speeding along under your own steam.

Swimming is another activity that you can do if you’d rather avoid the gym. Swimming works well for people of all levels of fitness, because the water supports your joints, so there is less strain on them. This means it’s suitable for people with injuries as well as those in rude health. Although you should consult with your doctor first.

It is possible to devise a workout plan for swimming like you would any activity. Include a warm-up, more intensive activity and then a cool down. You also get the added benefit of developing your confidence around water.

Judo

For non-gym goers that want to stay fit, picking a martial art like Judo is a perfect choice. Judo requires discipline, energy, and focus to complete. It works well for a lot of people because you are not so focused on the exercise part, but more on the skill and competitiveness that it fosters.

Also, the practicing martial arts has been known to increase confidence too. This is an essential skill that can help us in all areas of our lives.

Ta Chi

Another martial art, Tai Chi is on the more gentle side of things. It has been practiced in China for hundreds of years. The goal of Tai Chi is to use the flowing movement designed to control the passage of energy in the body.

Tai Chi is a brilliant choice for those of us that like to add a spiritual element to our workouts. It is also very relaxing and can be used a form of meditation as well as exercise.

Ballroom Dancing

With the popularity of shows like Dancing with the Stars, ballroom dancing is seeing a resurgence at the moment. There are lots of styles you can pick from like salsa, waltz, and the sultry tango.

With the complicated dance moves and stunning costumes, you’ll forget that you’re exercising altogether. It truly is as far away from a gym workout as you can get. So it’s perfect for the gym-phobic!
