(ThySistas.comIt’s common for kids as young as eight to now have a mobile phone. While it is a great safety tool, it does have a lot of negatives. After all, your child could easily be speaking to strangers without you knowing, and they then could end up in danger. Alongside their tablet and computer, mobiles cause a huge worry for moms. Here are some tips to ensure you don’t have to be stressed about your child.

Talk to them about stranger danger

It’s best to sit down with your kids and talk to them about the dangers they might face while using technology. After all, if you drill into them the importance of not talking to strangers, they are likely to avoid doing it. Explain to them why they shouldn’t do it and what might happen. There are many stories online about youngsters being misled by strangers. They even go to meet them and then it turns out to be someone completely different. Therefore, tell your kids about these stories to ensure they realize how serious it is. As we said before, tech has caused children to evolve a lot quicker these days, so talking to them is a great option to ensure they stay safe.

Limit their use of their mobile

Kids can sometimes spend all day and night on their phone. In fact, it can be hard to get a conversation out of them. But for the sake of their health and safety, you should limit their use of their mobile. Of course, they will want to take it with them to school. But once they are home, you should limit their use to an hour or two in the evening. That way, you can ensure they do their homework. And you can spend time as a family. Also, it might be wise to ensure it’s switched off and in their draw when they go to bed. It will stop late night chats with mates… and strangers!

Have access to their device

A lot of parents let their kids use their phone, as long as they can check it out later. But this can often cause trouble. After all, it can show a lack of trust, and kids love to keep convos with their friends quiet. But if you are concerned about them, it’s important to ensure you do keep an eye on them. You might even want to look into getting some form of spy tracker for their mobile. That way, you can use the software to check their social media, messages, and even photos. It might be worth doing if you are worried about your kid. After all, you can have peace of mind that they are staying safe with their mobile. And if they are speaking to strangers, you can stop anything bad happening.

While there are a ton of benefits to social media, it can also be a dangerous tool. After all, it gives your child access to people all around the world. And a lot of them are pretending to be someone else. You should consider banning your kid’s use of social media accounts. Or change the settings so they can only speak to friends. And if they do have accounts, you could join up and add them. After all, it’s the best way to keep an eye on them!
