(ThySistas.comToo long our society has though as aging as a negative. Why must it be so? There are plenty of good things that come with the extra candles on your birthday cake every year. Aging should be something to be celebrated not dreaded and here is how to do it.

Be glad that you are wise

As the saying goes, ‘with age comes wisdom.’ This is definitely a positive quality that we can be glad for. Being wiser may mean different things to different people. For some, it is about not caring so much what others think of them. This allows them to stand in olderblackwomantheir own power, and go after what they want regardless of approval.

For others being wiser may be learning how to deal with specific issues like anger, or your finances in a constructive way. Life’s a journey, and there is much to learn and many people to meet along the way. You are wise if you learn from the situations you have been in, whether they were good or bad.

Be glad for all you have

As we get older, we can be positive about the things and people that we have in our lives, as well as what we have achieved. Young people often feel a great pressure to prove themselves.

But those of us that have been around the block a few times realize that our value doesn’t come from the money we have or the car we drive. But from the lasting relationships, we have forged with friends and loved ones, or the mountains that we have climbed. Be they physical or metaphorical.

Be glad for your health

Health is a major issue for those of us that are getting older. Even if we are in relatively good health, we can worry about a future decline. While it’s not easy, there are some things we can do.

Firstly it’s important to be grateful for the health that we do have. OK, you may have some aches and pains here and there. But if you can get around and have access to healthcare you are doing better than most of the world’s population.

Having said that, it is also important to realize that many health issues can be treated to relieve some of their discomforts. Vein treatment is available for those with a varicose problem. Medications can be prescribed for arthritis and diabetes, and there are a number of beauty treatments to deal with age spots and redness.

Be glad you can take it easy

Something else to be glad for is that you no longer have to keep up with that frenetic pace of life. It’s OK to stop and smell the roses. To get enjoyment out of the small things in life. While the young people around you are working their socks off, you can take some time to sit back and indulge finer pleasures. Like art, history or religion.

You can also be there and help the younger generation too, whether they are in your own family, community or church. Then they can benefit from your experience, knowledge, and wisdom.
