(ThySistas.com) Whew! The daily stress in college never ends there is always a task waiting for you to complete it. Whether it is a paper due, homework to complete, a test to study for or a group project you are juggling there is always something. I am not saying this to scare anyone but being a college student is no easy task, and if anyone said that then they were surely telling a lie. College is all about time management and if you use your time wisely and efficiently then you will be able to get things done. College requires much more effort than high school, and the instructors are more demanding.
Many college students find that when making the transition to college that they need to develop new skills in order to balance academics with a healthy lifestyle. Stress is apart of everyday life, stress is anything that alters your natural balance. Being a college myself I could inform future students on the everyday task as well as planning strategies that will make your life as a college student easier.
The number one rule is to always get enough sleep, this is one of the most important things. Allowing yourself to at least seven to ten hours of sleep each night will make less likely for you to experience weight gain, impaired memory, and the greater risk of depression and anxiety. As a college student you also have to balance a healthy diet, we all have different things that we love to eat but that does not mean they are necessarily what is best for our bodies.
The food you eat plays a major role in your lifestyle, if your diet consist of sugar and junk food you will need to cut back on those particular things. Fruits, vegetables, protein, and water are all required in the diet of a college student these are considered to be “brain foods”. Exercise also is very important in the lives of college students, whether you walk, run, or jog getting at least thirty minutes to an hour of exercise in is very important. Exercising allows you to improve your mental health as well as your mood and also strengthens your body while controlling your weight.
One of the most important things to remember in college is not to overload yourself. Believe me your schedule will be hectic in college, so you have to ensure that you manage time wisely. Giving yourself some free time is important as well, everyone wants to have some fun here and there you just have to do those things in moderation. You can not go off to college with the mentality that things will be easy and will go your way, I can assure you there will be a rude awakening.
Your college career is one of the most crucial times in your life it can either make or break you. Thinking ahead to the dreams and goals you have set forth for yourself will also keep you motivated to stay on the right track. Even on days when things are stressing you out or you are having a rough day always remember that nothing worth having comes easy we must work hard and fight to be winners in the end.
