(ThySistas.com) Ladies your dreams are important. The goals that you make for your life are just as important as having a family. So many of us grew up being told we must choose between our dreams, and family. That is not true, and we see women soaring everyday beyond their dreams. Some of these dynamic women are also wives and mothers. All brothers are not afraid of your ambitions, and all friends won’t envy you. We have to be willing to align ourselves with people that are good for us, and believe in us.

Yes, you may lose people along the way, but that is nothing compared to obtaining your dreams surrounded by genuine love. The first step is believing that we can achieve our dreams as long as we are willing to fight for it. Granted some of them may be difficult, but that doesn’t mean we should back down. Courage is required to conquer a mountain. You could have the best team around you, but they can’t achieve for you.2016-black-woman-thinking

The biggest factor in attaining our dreams is that first step towards on the journey. The planning and research may not be the hardest part for some of us. We must look at ourselves in the mirror and believe we can accomplish the task ahead…then move on it. Often times we get caught up in the “thinking about it” space then all of a sudden there is so much to do for others. Sistahs, at some point we must stop thinking and begin moving towards the goals. We must be careful not to allow husband, children and being there for others to become the excuse we use to procrastinate in movement.

Likewise, we ought not let pursuing a family to stop us. Truth be told men are not as afraid as we think. Many of them appreciate, admire and are willing to encourage us to attain all that we desire. They just don’t want to be emasculated by our dreams; that is only fair. Yes, there are those that might be intimidate…but not as many as we are lead to believe. Some of us are blessed to have a sister circle that is cheering for us, and willing to be accountability partners. We just have to get up and go.

As always, challenges will arise along the way. The key is to remain focused, and adjust when it is required. We can’t allow a hiccup along the way to make us say “see I knew I couldn’t do it”. No ma’am if you get knocked down you have to get back up immediately. The longer you stay down the greater the change you won’t get back up. Tenacity and will are our best friends. The fight in our gut that says I will not be denied is an asset.

Nothing can stop you from getting where you need to go if you have decided, against all odds, to get there. I will admit sometimes the detoured routes life presents takes us longer than we expected to reach our destination. Yet, we can learn many valuable lessons along the way. The bottom line is nothing, and no one, can deny you of your dreams when you decide to conquer. Your dreams are worth fighting for.
