(ThySistas.com) Moving away from home to start student life is a major milestone. Most of us approach this moment with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. When you’re considering your options, there’s a lot to think about. Which course would be best? How far do you want to travel? How much is student life going to cost? If you’re weighing up your options, and you’re thinking about studying overseas, you may be interested in this infographic, which breaks down the cost of studying in the UK compared to other European countries.

If you’ve been browsing prospectuses and looking at fees for UK universities, you may not be surprised to learn that the UK is one of the most expensive places to study. With fees of up to €11,500 per year and an average room in a shared house costing up to £750 per month in London, there’s no doubt that moving abroad could save you a lot of money. There are no tuition fees at universities in Austria and Germany and in France, Italy, Spain and Belgium, students pay less than €1,500 per year. The average room in Rome costs around €430-€530 per month. British students are also eligible for financial support in most EU countries.

It’s also worth taking the cost of getting around into consideration. Unless you want to walk everywhere, which may not be a viable option, getting from A to B is going to cost you. The cost of transport is lowest in Brussels and highest in Dublin, with an estimated monthly spend of €115.
