(ThySistas.com) Feeling down or stuck in a rut and lack motivation to move ahead?  No worries, I’ve been there too and have learned that feeling unmotivated at times is temporary.  Sometimes, it’s acknowledging that our feelings have changed towards a specific goal we set and therefore we lack the motivation to complete the goal.  At other times, it could be that we are restless and need to rest our mind and body before we can do anything for ourselves or others.  Lastly, sometimes we just need to get out of our feelings and do the work needed to get things done.  If any of these examples sounds like your situation, I have three solutions to help you stay motivated.

Track and monitor your feelings.  Grab your journal or notebook and write down your feelings whenever you are not motivated to do something.  Next, track anything that could be triggers to your changed mood: foods, environment, schedule/daily routines, etc.  I notice that I’m not always motivated to get my work done during certain hours of the day.  With the freedom I have as a full-time entrepreneur, I don’t schedule important tasks to do, during those hours.  After you’ve tracked and monitored what causes you to lack motivation, now you can move on to the next step, which is to make sure that you are well rested.

Get adequate amounts of rest.  No matter your lifestyle, your mind and body needs rest.  Sometimes, you feel unmotivated because you are simply tired.  You aren’t motivated to exercise in the morning because you stayed up all night Netflix and chilling.  Or maybe you need a mid-day 30 minute nap to get your head back in the game and get yourself motivated!  You can challenge yourself to go to bed one hour earlier or start off with at a minimum, 15 minute naps throughout your day.  Cancel some plans you have that serves you no purpose and get yourself some rest!

Get out of your feelings.  You’re not going to always feel like doing something, do it anyway.  I don’t always feel like cooking or traveling for work but I do it anyway to create the lifestyle that I enjoy and share with my loved ones.  Not doing something important or beneficial for your life and health overall, will leave you stagnant and feeling highly unmotivated.  Get up and do what you need to do to stay motivated, you will “feel” better once you get started and the results will be satisfying in the end.

Many successful people in life are where they are now because a lack of motivation was simply  not a good enough reason for them to not accomplish their goals in life.  You have to know and understand the root cause of your lack of motivation, you have to figure out how to address it and deal with it so that you can get the job done.  Take a break from whatever it is, go for a walk, get proper rest and stay motivated throughout the process.
