(ThySistas.com) Finding your purpose in life is one of the hardest things to do for some people, however, it doesn’t have to be. Typically, our purpose is actually revealed to us, we just run from it. But let’s take a step back and define what your finding your purpose means. According to the dictionary, “Purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” So if you are trying to find your purpose in life start by asking yourself, what’s the reason for which you do the things that you do?
Using myself as an example, I knew that one of my purposes in life is to tell written stories that connects to people’s everyday lives. For this reason, I create and write plays, short films, share stories through photography images, published articles, books and other published freelance writing that I do. These stories that I create exists because either I have experienced something personally from them and want to share my experiences with others or people find it easy to share their stories with me to speak on the behalf to others to raise a particular awareness on something.
So as you can see from my example above, I have found my purpose because I know what I’m doing answers why what I’m doing, exists. If I were to look back on my life (and I suggest you do this as well if you struggle finding out your purpose), I always wrote imaginary stories in my diaries when I was little and I’m a true bookworm. Both of these things that I do and love naturally, is a part of my purpose as a storyteller. Think about what you do naturally, without formal education or any other training…….. that’s centered around your purpose.
You should always seek God’s counsel on finding out exactly what your purpose in life is. He created you, so of course He would know the answers to your questions. In Psalm 16:11 it says, “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” What brings you joy? That answer is another clue to help you find your purpose. Your purpose reveals itself to you if you really pay attention to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the joy you obtain in the moments that you are operating in your purpose.
Bottom line is, when finding your purpose, it boils down to identifying and feeling on the inside, what brings you the greatest joy in life and what are the qualities that you possess that contributed to that joyous moment in your life. People make it over complicated when they are operating out of alignment of their purpose when they are doing what brings someone else joy or what is popular. Your purpose in life is uniquely crafted for you although multiple people purpose in life can be very similar to yours, (ex., the art of storytelling). Find your purpose by finding out what brings you great joy when you do it.
