(ThySistas.com) Are you preparing for a new year and a new you? If not, it’s time to refresh yourself. Take a moment to refresh or as some people say, reflect on the goals you accomplished this year. Refresh that relationship that needs tending to. Press refresh on your book that you are writing, but you put it to the side. New Year’s Eve always gets people thinking about changing their lives or unhealthy habits. If you have not, get ready to refresh your life now, for the new year.
Refreshing is a great way to shift our minds towards what we want to do or learn in life. You don’t always have to make drastic changes to refresh, you can do something small to refresh your current state of being. Don’t feel pressured to be perfect by the new year or the end of this year if you haven’t scratched off all of your goals yet. Revisit those goals that are still left to do and refresh ways that you can creatively get them accomplished.
You may want to refresh your space that you work or live in, do some necessary cleaning or purging that particular space to refresh. Sometimes, we just work better in a cleaner space. This provides you with a clearer viewer on things. Refreshing your artwork or affirmations you have hanging up in your space, or refresh that darker décor in your office, for a lighter color. You’ll be amazed at what little changes can do, to refresh yourself into another level.
Vision boards are another great way to refresh and reflect on where you are, and where you want to be. It is a creative visual of images and words to remind us daily of the goals that we want to accomplish. Now days, there are tons of small and large events centered around creating vision board parties around the New Year’s Eve holiday. That’s great, but what tends to happen is, it turns more into a social gathering and you’re not really focused on what goals you want to accomplish or you don’t put everything that you want or desire on the vision board because of fear of someone taking that idea, and excelling in it. Refresh your thoughts this year and instead of attending a vision board party, create one alone, in the privacy of your own home.
Refresh your electronic devices. Delete those apps or contacts that don’t help you to stay on task, productive or engaging with the people who mean the most to you. We are always refreshing our timelines to see what’s new on our social media feeds or in our email inbox, but we aren’t refreshing those valuable relationships or tasks that can take us to the next level. Get organized, delete unnecessary documents and images that’s taking up space on your hard drive or storage on your mobile device.
Refresh how you view the importance of having good health. It may be painful, for a while, but go to the dentist to avoid more cavities. Get that mammogram even though you fear a diagnosis of breast cancer. Go get tested for STI/HIV, get that annual physical exam. Do whatever you need to do to stay healthy. Bring a friend or family member with you and make it a group thing to do together.
Overall, you don’t have to wait til the clock strikes 11:59 pm on New Year’s Eve to refresh your life. You can begin a new you or a new way of thinking right now. Out with the old ways of thinking and in with the newest ways to refresh who you are in the now. Get out of your comfort zones and dare to refresh your life so that you can soar to higher heights. Refreshing is simple a step back, to appreciate, what lies ahead.
