(ThySistas.comFor I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

In today’s society it is so easy to get discouraged with the progress or the lack thereof, in our lives. We are surrounded by people from all walks of life sharing stories online on everything from tips on motherhood, beautiful photos and videos of our friends and family members getting married to seeing people become successful entrepreneurs and we silently wished those things were happening in our lives. What God has for you, is for you, trust His timing.

Fret not, as the scripture above so eloquently stated, God knows the plans that He has for you. So why are you comparing your life, to someone else’s? Your story, is unlike any others and God will use you, for His glory, in His timing. I’ve never heard of a success story that didn’t involve a season of someone being in the wilderness, enduring setbacks or hardships, failure after failure and even to the extent of living in poverty to make their dreams come true.

Let’s take for example, television talk show host, producer, author and comedian Steve Harvey. Before he became a house hold name, he was homeless, living out of his car, had failed at marriage, and was driving across the country doing stand-up comedy bringing in revenue of about $50 per show. Now fast forward to today, Steve is a very successful businessman who gives God the glory for the journey that led to his success. Although it took some time, with his faith and determination, God provided has provided Steve with a future of “good and not evil.”

Think about all of the barren mothers of the world, who were told by doctors again and again that they would never be able to bare life inside of their womb and then God, shows up and shows out in that woman’s life. Not only does she deliver a healthy baby, but she delivers multiple healthy children at different stages in her life. It was all in God’s timing and in His plans for those particular women.

In Proverbs 3:5-6 the scripture says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

If you are trusting God for something to happen in your life, there’s no room to lean on your negative thoughts. There’s countless of “If He did for _____” stories in the bible that you can refer back to and know that God has not forsaken you. If He has planted a seed (an idea or desire) in you, trust and know that like any thing else in life that grows, it takes time and nourishment before it is manifested. So don’t get discouraged while looking at someone’s life currently, but thank God for your journey and the story or testimony that you will share with others, at it’s appointed time.
