(ThySistas.com) Let’s talk about money. It seems like we can never get enough of it. When you have it, you can do just about anything you want and when you don’t, the pressure to secure the funds you need can take a toll on your health. Imagine not having to worry, wonder and fret about your finances. Even if you don’t make a lot of money, you can still find ways to save some up for a very important rainy day.

The truth is a lot of people have enough funds coming in; they just don’t know how to manage what they bring home. This is no doubt the number one reason why folks feel like they can’t make ends meet. And in today’s economy with sky-high prices for rent, food, and utilities, you have to strategically plan how you spend your dough.

So if you keep finding yourself in a bind time and time again, you need to take a step back, look at your books and make some changes. Here are five money-saving tips to get you on your way.

Budgeting

You would be surprised by how many people do not have a set budget for their income. Too many spend without regard to their responsibilities. Aside from that, having a clear picture of where your money is going is the first start to understanding how to make it work for you. If you don’t have a budget, GET ONE now!

Stop Indulging

I get that those shoes were calling your name or that happy hour was a way to let loose, but if you don’t have the money don’t spend it. It is plain and simple as that. A part of being an adult is knowing when to say no. Some people call it self-control. I call it being smart. I am not saying that you can’t EVER splurge, but doing that too often will definitively put you in a financial bind from which it can be hard to bounce back.

Build Savings

You don’t need a lot of money to start saving. In fact, there are different types of accounts that you can open that will yield dividends that really add up. You can start off with as little as $25. The key here is just to make sure that you start. From there consistently add to your account. You would be amazed at how much you will have after a few months.

Reward Yourself

For some people, having something to look forward to is a great encouragement for them to save money. Instead of just going with the flow and shopping every chance you get, set a goal for yourself with your finances. From there, work towards reaching it and when you do, reward yourself with something nice or fun.

Be Patient

When dealing with your money, it’s a waiting game. Don’t get frustrated or discouraged because you’re only able to save a little bit at a time or aren’t seeing huge gains overnight. Stay committed to the process and the process will pay you back.

Take small steps to get where you need to be with your finances. As with anything, you have to stick at it and be purposeful to see results.
