(ThySistas.com) Sistahs its summer time; while we are hitting the gym, and the beach we must be mindful of our internal health. Water has to be a main staple in our diet, and it is even an important part of our workout regimen.  It doesn’t just affect our internal organs but it determines how radiant our skin and hair will be.  This is the season of cookouts, refreshing spritzers and exotic sparkling drinks.  We also tend to intake more juice and sports drinks due to the heat.

If we are not careful we will put ourselves at risk of dehydration…which can affect our skin and hair to say the least. Drinking adequate water can assist our digestion, combat fatigblack-woman-drinking-waterue, aid weight loss and help us concentrate.  With that being said we incur the opposite of these benefits when we deprive ourselves of water.

“If you didn’t know, the average adult human body is about 60 percent water. Skin alone contains 63 percent water. Water is required for our cells to transport nutrients and minerals throughout our bodies, and also to help eliminate wastes and toxins. When you don’t drink enough water, you become dehydrated. Dehydration prevents your body from eliminating toxins through your skin, which in turn makes your skin more susceptible to skin problems and disorders, such as dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, discoloration, and even premature wrinkling. Assuming these issues were caused by dehydration, they can be improved over time with proper hydration, according to WebMD.”

Some truly do not like the taste of water, or its lack of taste.  Due to this many of us lean towards flavor enhancers.  These are ok in moderation, but they do not take the place of pure water…no additives. Drinking adequate water on a daily basis will enrich every aspect of your health.  In addition to drinking water we can add more water heavy fruit and vegetable to our diet.  This doesn’t take the place of drinking water, but it can definitely add to the water intake, as well as giving us more nutrients.

Ladies we all know our glow included our hair.  Dehydration can lead to dry brittle hair…which can cause breakage.  While we are making sure we use the right cleanser, conditioners and moisturizers the foundation includes water.  Increasing our water intake is infusing moisture from the inside as we moisturize our hair from the outside. No one wants to deal with dry scalp, flaking and breakage.  Water is not the only answer, but it is a vital part of the overall solution.

Simply indulge in water for the overall benefit of your health.  Dehydration can lead to kidney problems, feminine problems, and even contribute body odor.  Water is a necessity for our health.  Thought we know dehydration is dangerous we tend not to understand the gravity of it until it causes other health issues.  Sistahs if left unchecked dehydration can cause fatal problems.  As we get our external look together for summer…keep in mind water is vital to your glow.
