Hey there! This is my comment that I posted to msn. I just wanted to make sure you see it so I’m posting it here.

It’s the beauty inside of a person that really matters. Jasmine Guy has done some amazing things in general just as a human being, and one of her most important jobs is being a mother. I love how her self-esteem seems not to have been tarnished by all of the petty chatter. Her professionalism and her poker face seems almost unmatched. I’m sure she learned that from her elders and mentors. I love how she is passing the baton to the younger generation yet gracefully stays involved in her career acting and modeling what a successful career can look like. She is imparting wisdom and lifting the younger generation up… not worrying about what people have to say about her natural lines. Her critical thinking game is on point to say the least. It’s giving, “I have more important things to do” vibes and I’m here for it.

This reads like an article written by blk men who hate black women. Sorry, but we are not a monolith of women seeking conflict, arguments, nor do we throw drinks on each other. You are referring to whom Hollywood chooses to put in front of the camera via reality tv. Go on garden tiktok, you’ll see scores of blk women in their soft era, gardening, playing their guitars, doing ballet, and other refined arts or just being normal every day people. The article should have been about how we are often ignored and not highlighted. There are so many of us. We love Zendaya, but she is not the first, only, or the last black women who is gentle, dignified, sweet, and kind. We all are. But also tough when we need to be, in a world that is always pushing and cutting us. Please don’t buy into or perpetuate the stereotypes.

This blessed me deeply this morning. Now that I’m older, I’m learning that wisdom, understanding, and what God has placed in my hands are far more valuable than trying to hold on to a younger version of myself.

Aging is not something we should have to apologize for. It is evidence that God has allowed us to keep living—to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. There is a wisdom and understanding that simply cannot be rushed. Some things only come through living, learning, surviving, trusting God, and yes… getting older.

And yes, aging comes with some changes! 😂 I may not be jumping off the back porch like I did when I was young. The glasses have become necessary, and this body has some wear and tear from childbirth and simply living life. LOL! But even those changes tell a story. This body has carried me through some things.

I want to age gracefully, but not just in appearance. I want to age fruitfully. What good is gaining wisdom if I never pour it into someone else? How can we be fruitful and multiply what God has placed within us if we are afraid of the very years that gave us something worth imparting?

So I’m grateful for the years. Grateful for the wisdom. Grateful for what is in my hands. And most of all, grateful that God has allowed me to keep living long enough to have something meaningful to give away.

I don’t just want to look good as I grow older—I want my life to bear witness that I grew wiser, deeper, and more fruitful along the way. ❤️
