3 Ways to Drop a Few Pounds.

(ThySistas.com) Most people want to lose weight, sadly few people want to change their lifestyle and the way the eat. We live in a microwave society where everyone wants quick results. We spend hundreds on diet pills, diet drinks, and garments to suck in our waist. We flood into the gym every January and February then by March the gym is dead again. Well at least until we get an invite to a summer party then we’re back in the gym, dedicated and devoted to “looking healthy”.

Isn’t it time we shift our focus from looking healthy to being healthy individuals. We strive to look better than we feel. Good health, like wealth, comes from the inner world. We create our experience based on what we have going on inside ourselves. Food plays a major role in our inner world, primarily our mental state. We know certain foods drain the mind while other foods fuel it.

In this article, I will be sharing three tips that you can incorporate into your daily life to lose a few pounds but more importantly, create a healthy lifestyle.

1.      Eat six meals a day. Do not allow your body to enter into a state of deprivation. We make the worst decisions once hunger sets in. Program your body to have six sensible meals per day. That is three major meals and three snacks. Don’t worry about getting it perfect, place your focus on progress. Researchers ag Georgia State University developed a technique to measure hourly energy balance – that is, how many calories you’re burning versus how many you are taking in. You should not be full or feeling unsatisfied after your meal.

2.      Focus on eating power foods. This is not to restrict you but to help you focus on getting nutritional foods in your shopping cart rather than those that leave you feeling depleted. Include two or three of these foods in each of your three major meals and at least one in each of your three snacks. Almonds and other nuts, beans/legumes, spinach, turkey, eggs, oatmeal, and peanut butter are just a few power foods.

3.      Drink smoothies every day. My blender is my best friend, especially during the hotter months. Smoothies blended mixtures of milk, low-fat yogurt, whey protein powder, ice, and other good stuff, to act as a meal substitute or a potent snack. Smoothies require little time! They take less than 5 minutes to whip up and while they are nutritious, they take like a dessert.

We must eat to live! Learn to let they food be thy medicine and thy medicine to be thy food. If it is the food that is killing us and taking us out of balance, truly it is the food that can heal us and bring us back into alignment.
