Five Good Habits of Happy Couples.

(ThySistas.com) One of the best aspects of adulthood is having a healthy, strong relationship with a significant other (SO) that understands who you are. When a couple reciprocates the things in life that make each other better, that’s a recipe for a great relationship.

Not everyone knows how to have a happy union and that’s okay. Some of us didn’t grow up with the best examples. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a prospering relationship. The truth is, you have to work and learn how to be good at things and having a relationship is one of them. It takes time, patience and honesty (among other things) but being the other half of a successfully happy relationship is possible.

Here are five habits of effective, satisfied couples.

Maintain Intimacy

It is easy to get into a rut once you have won someone’s affections, but the challenge of keeping the intimacy alive is worth taking on. Intimacy is paramount to relationships and for some people it is a love language through which they express their appreciation and commitment. It is more than sex and includes passion and affection. Whatever you have to do to maintain the level of intimacy needed to keep your significant other happy, do it!

Reconnect Daily

This is an important one. The stresses of life from work and other places can eat up your time and energy. Find ways to connect throughout your day as a way to keep the romance and love alive. This can be through a quick phone call, or a loving text. It may seem small but the efforts make a difference.

Love Languages

If you don’t know what this is it’s simple- find out the best way your SO receives and expresses their love and then do it. This is important and helps with communicating in the most effective way to your partner. This can be a gesture like taking out the trash, washing the dishes or even making the bed. All of these things count, because all of them matter. Check out The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts for more information.

Morning Time

If you and your SO have schedules that allow you to spend quality morning time together, it is a great way to start your day. Even if it’s just a few moments, drinking coffee, brushing your teeth together or even taking a shower together are ways to connect and focus first thing in the morning. It allows you both to start the day with love and appreciation in your heart.

Share a Ritual

This is a fun one because it can literally be anything you want. Doing something that both of you agree upon as your thing is a unique way of connecting. It can be something that you do at night before you go to bed like pray together or an activity you do once a week like go to your favor spot. Whatever the ritual is, it is something that both of you know is a special part of your relationship.

These are just a few of the things that can help make your relationship as healthy and strong as it can be.
