Is Religion A Legitimate Career?

(ThySistas.com) For most people, religion is a relief from their lives. It gives them perspective and the strength to continue down the right path. But, does it give them a realistic chance of a career? The answer is yes. You may be someone that thinks a life of religion would be an amazing thing, and you are not the only one. Where you differ is that you want to make that dream a reality. Instead of religion being a hobby or a pastime, make it your job.

Go To University

The first step is to enroll in a university course that teaches the word of God. There are plenty of courses out there that you can obtain from theology to a religious study degree. A degree is essential because Christianity is trying to modernize into the twenty-first century. To do that, they want modern people that go to modern universities and study modern courses. A career in religion is a lot like any other career – you need the qualifications before you can begin.

And Then Postgraduate Education

Whatever job role you want within Christianity, you want to specialize in that subject. The only way to do that is to become a master or a doctor. An MA or a Ph.D. is a great way to increase your knowledge on the subject and get your dream job. You don’t even have to go to a university because a bible college is just as good. Regardless, it is important because the community will look to you for guidance and advice. In all honesty, the last person they want to take advice from is someone that doesn’t have any knowledge on the subject. A postgrad qualification will demand people’s respect when you speak.

Work Experience

One of the great things about a career in religion is that there is a host of career choices. Many of you may be thinking that you have to become a minister or a member of the clergy to fulfill your dream. But, you don’t because you can go into teaching in another way. For example, you can teach religious studies in a school. That way, you can dedicate your life to religion and mold young minds in the process. Getting a job as a teacher is a lot like any other job as you need experience. If you have the qualifications and the experience, you shouldn’t have a problem getting a job.

Apply, Apply, Apply!

The final thing you have to do is take a leap of faith. After all of this, you may be second guessing your decision, which is normal. But, God has a plan for everyone, so don’t be worried if you don’t feel as close to him as you think you should. The only way you will know whether a career in religion is for you is to try it and analyze the results. One important thing to remember is that you can still serve him even if you don’t work in the industry.

Religion is a legitimate career opportunity, and it could be the perfect option.
